Church Planting Process-Bible Translation

The Tepehuan language is an Uto-Aztecan language which is completely different from Spanish. During this stage, I hope to be working on translation of the Old Testament as well as serve my teammates if they need linguistic help. The linguistics training has taught me to take the phonetic sounds of Tepehuan and write them down helping people understand what sounds they think they are making, and which ones are unknown to them.  Linguistics also helps with studying and understanding the pieces of Tepehuan grammar: how to break down words, phrases, and sentences in discovering how the language works and functions. This type of thing is done so that us missionaries can sound more like them and so that language study is done faster with less headaches.
